The new York post calls him a suspect immediately. Drudgereport links it under a screaming headline. World media pick it up. Everyone thinks he’s behind it. But. It’s. Just. Not. True.
I like how an innocent, injured, and scared man was tackled by bystanders, taken into custody, and defamed in the international media just for his skin color and his audacity to run from a fucking bombing and this warrants one tiny paragraph in an article about how “vigilant” they’re being in their investigation.

The assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on this day in 1968 remains unsolved and that’s how the US government wants to keep it. The murder was investigated by J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI (who in all likelihood had something to do with it in the first place) and most of the documentation from that investigation will remain classified until 2027. A subsequent Congressional report conducted by the House Select Committee on Assassinations is similarly sealed until 2029.
James Earl Ray was pressed into a guilty plea during a three-hour hearing in order to avoid the death penalty. Three years later, Ray claimed that the assassination was a conspiracy orchestrated by somebody known only as “Raoul” whom he met in Montreal. Two separate ballistics tests failed to match the lethal bullet to the alleged murder weapon. The King family supported Ray’s call for a retrial, but he was never granted one.
When Ray died in 1998, Coretta Scott King said: “America will never have the benefit of Mr. Ray’s trial, which would have produced new revelations about the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., as well as establish the facts concerning Mr Ray’s innocence.”
The King family filed a lawsuit in Dr. King’s wrongful death which went before a Memphis jury in 1999. The historic three-week trial concerning the murder of one of the most important figures of the 20th century was not covered by US mainstream media which thrives on covering celebrity courtroom dramas in lurid detail. The jury confirmed the existence of “Raoul” and concluded that Martin Luther King was assassinated by a broad conspiracy which included agents of his own government. And that’s all we know for now.

They’re now saying that if you’re not an important cog in the global financial system, you can’t get away with anything, not even simple possession. You will be jailed and whatever cash they find on you they’ll seize on the spot, and convert into new cruisers or toys for your local SWAT team, which will be deployed to kick in the doors of houses where more such inessential economic cogs as you live. If you don’t have a systemically important job, in other words, the government’s position is that your assets may be used to finance your own political disenfranchisement.
Also note that charities have had their assets seized for more tenuous alleged associations to terrorist organizations than was proven/admitted to in this case.
